Winter Sowing makes starting Spring garden plants easy and fun!
Hardy vegetable, herb, annual and perennial flower seeds are sown on frozen soil or in protective containers, starting in December. After a chill period, each variety responds to day-length, moisture and temperature cues to germinate under nearly ideal conditions, reducing common indoor cultivation problems like leggy, buggy, and soggy seedlings. And, Winter-sowing frees up indoor seed-starting space for long-season varieties. Your cat can enjoy the windowsill again! Join the discussion about getting started with Winter-Sowing. We’ll talk varieties, materials, and techniques. Hope to meet you there!
