The Hosta world is filled with impressive plants but all pale in size to “Empress Wu’

Named in honor of the only female empress of China, ‘Empress Wu’ cze when compared to ‘Empress Wu’.ertainly carries an imperial presence into the garden with spectacular size in both height and width that makes it a true garden specimen. Leaves emerge deep green with a blue tinge and heavily corrugated and seem to just keep on growing until they reach an unprecedented 18″ across! These massive leaves form an equally massive mound that fills space beautifully in partial to full shade locations. It is truly a dominant perennial but, with its great color and texture, it is a benign presence in the garden as it works well with and provides a perfect backdrop for other foliage and flower colors. Plant one or more if you dare, give it room to grow and get ready to be awestruck!

Empress Wu is a Hybrid of H. ‘Big John’ and was developed by Brian and Virginia Skaggs and is a member of their Zanadu Series.
