Little Missy Boxwood is a dense multi-stemmed evergreen shrub with a more or less rounded form. Its relatively fine texture sets it apart from other landscape plants with less refined foliage.
Ornamental Qualities
Little Missy Boxwood is primarily valued in the garden for its ornamental globe-shaped form. It has dark green evergreen foliage which emerges chartreuse in spring. The small glossy oval leaves remain dark green throughout the winter.
Planting and Growing
Little Missy Boxwood will grow to be about 20 inches tall at maturity | with a spread of 20 inches. It tends to fill out right to the ground and therefore doesn't necessarily require facer plants in front. It grows at a slow rate | and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for approximately 30 years.
This shrub does best in full sun to partial shade. You may want to keep it away from hot | dry locations that receive direct afternoon sun or which get reflected sunlight | such as against the south side of a white wall. It prefers to grow in average to moist conditions | and shouldn't be allowed to dry out. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments | and will benefit from being planted in a relatively sheltered location. This is a selected variety of a species not originally from North America.
