Midnight Sun Reblooming Weigela features dainty clusters of pink trumpet-shaped flowers along the branches in late spring | which emerge from distinctive red flower buds. It has attractive orange-variegated brick red foliage with hints of chartreuse which emerges light green in spring. The pointy leaves are highly ornamental and turn outstanding shades of burgundy | orange and plum purple in the fall.

Planting and Growing

Midnight Sun Reblooming Weigela will grow to be about 18 inches tall at maturity | with a spread of 18 inches. It tends to fill out right to the ground and therefore doesn't necessarily require facer plants in front. It grows at a medium rate | and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for approximately 30 years.

This shrub should only be grown in full sunlight. It prefers to grow in average to moist conditions | and shouldn't be allowed to dry out. This plant will benefit from an application of bonemeal and/or mycorrhizal fertilizer at the time of planting. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments. This is a selected variety of a species not originally from North America.
